Brunner started her career in 1978 as an accountant for a printing company. Working with Seybold Seminars & Publications in the 1980s and 1990s, she helped drive the worldwide desktop publishing revolution and has worked as a prepress consultant and journalist ever since. She is managing director of Digital Dots, an international consulting group which publishes Spindrift, a subscriber supported journal for the graphic arts, printing and publishing industries. Through her work with several ISO working groups, Brunner is active in the development of ISO 12647 and 15339 for print quality control. She is also the convenor of WG11 (environmental impact of graphics technologies).
